CAMBODIA - Buddha Head Carving

ITEM SPECIFICS.
  • Material:  sandstone (same building material used in the construction of Angkor Wat)
  • Dimension:  23 cm. tall
  • Design:  carved Buddha head in Cambodian style (the style is prominently showcased in the walls and in main structures all over Angkor Wat), mounted on a block of wood by a steel rod painted in black

Made in CAMBODIA.

NOTES:
  • given to me by my friend and former officemate Jan Michael A. when he was assigned in Bankok, Thailand for a project and have to exit via Cambodia.  This was 10 years ago in 2002.  I was able to preserve the beauty of the carving as if it was just been given yesterday;
  • my friend Jan Michael A. visited Angkor Wat and there, if I correctly remember it, is where he bought the carving;
  • aside from being a tabletop decor, the item could also function as a gorgeous paperweight or an expensive bookend;
  • the item is quite heavy.

A Bit of Trivia:
  • Did you know that the Angkor Wat is the largest Hindu temple complex in the whole world?  It was built in the early 12th century and it still stand today.
